Like father, like son

Finally, someone to skateboard with!

Erick got to do two of his favorite things this Father's Day . . . skateboard and ride his bike! His morning started with gifts -- a giant poem card Jack made in school, a pizza grilling pan for the BBQ, and a double frame with pics of the kids to put on his desk at work. Then after cutting the grass (yes, he cut the grass on Father's Day) he and Jack skated back and forth in front of the house. He showed Jack all his skater moves and tricks from (ahem) way back when. He's been hanging onto that skateboard from jr. high maybe, just waiting for Jack to get old enough to skate with him. As you can see below, Jack was really having fun and getting the hang of it.

After lunch and Kaitlin's nap, the grandmas came over and we all went on a bike ride along the Springwater Corridor and enjoyed the beautiful weather (as were what seemed like several hundred more bikers out on the trail). Back at home we enjoyed a yummy dinner of roasted game hens, salad, grilled veggies, and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Yum!

It was a very nice day but I think Erick's favorite thing actually happened Friday when this arrived . . .

Oh [Freightliner], won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz?

Some guy I know is very excited to have this particular work benefit! He definitely deserves it!

  1. Nice ride, Erick! That must be the fanciest car on the block, maybe the whole neighborhood. :)
