I voted!

It might be a little hard to read, but Jack hopes you vote for "Jorge" Washington.

Last week, Jack's school took part in a national mock presidential election. To get the kids in the spirit, they were asked to make a sign telling people to vote. This is the first sign he made and we're not sure why he wrote "Jorge" Washington, but we thought it was pretty cute. The people in charge of the "election" even made voting booths for the kids to cast their ballots in. Jack was excited to tell us he voted for Barack Obama and showed us his cool "I voted" sticker.

(Note: I'm afraid we had a little bit of influence on who Jack "voted" for, even though he told us that he was supposed to vote for himself, not who his parents wanted him to vote for. But he and Kaitlin had decided long ago who they liked, probably because they enjoyed saying his name. We really didn't discourage this decision.)

So last night, we let Jack stay up to watch some of the election and he got to see when Obama won. Jack was so excited that he actually teared up a bit. It was very sweet. Seeing the candidate he "voted" for actually win seemed to make a big impact on him and I hope it's something he'll always remember.

On a side note, Jack also learned that peanut butter helped make his hiccups go away! So it was an evening of big discoveries and promises of change in this 7-year old's life.
